Financial Times’s Valuable 500 Commitment:
We live in a time of disruption and fragmentation but it’s full of opportunity: To stand up for free enterprise as a force for good; to promote responsible business by holding companies to account; to empower our readers to lead the way in business, society and the wider world. This is the FT’s new agenda.
Our commitments:
- Organisational priority: Disability remains a key focus for the FT and is on the agenda for our DEI Council. From 2025, we will keep championing disability and neuro-inclusion through enhanced support.
- Workforce representation: We aim to achieve 10% workforce representation of people with disabilities by 2026, we are working to improve self-id rates and gather accurate data to inform our efforts.
- Leaders in disability inclusion: We are a Disability Confident employer, and are striving to review our processes and improve the experiences of people with disabilities from the recruitment process to onboarding and beyond.
- Employee education: We offer employees awareness sessions on neurodiversity and disability to enhance understanding and support. Disability and neurodiversity training are planned for 2025.
- Accessibility improvements: Following an “Accessibility Audit” by Disability Rights UK, we continue to address identified areas to make our London office more inclusive. As members of AccessAble, we are further strengthening our commitment to accessibility within our workplace and beyond.
- Partnerships: We actively partner with organisations like EvenBreak to recruit talent from the disabled community. Additionally, we collaborate with Business Disability Forum and Purple Space to provide resources to our teams and support for our communities. Through our early careers programmes and beyond, we support organisations such as WhizzKidz, ADD, Thomas Pocklington Trust, Mencap, Blind in Business, and Unity Works.
- Content: We have reported on various developments in understanding and supporting disability and neurodiversity across various fields, from medical advancements to workplace accommodations.
- Digital accessibility: We are committed to improving accessibility on ft.com, particularly in areas like graphs and charts, to ensure our content is inclusive and accessible to all.
