Manulife’s Valuable 500 Commitment:
At Manulife, our mission is to make decisions easier and our customers’ lives better. We are fostering a working environment where all our colleagues have a sense of belonging and feel valued.
We believe that strength lies in embracing our differences and that diversity plays a key role in driving innovation and growth within our company and where we work.
Manulife is committed to deepening our understanding, and connection to disability and accessibility both as an employer and as a driver for our business, which directly connects to our focus in joining the Valuable 500.
Manulife will align our own efforts against the Valuable 500 “Synchronized Collective Actions” through our companies four defined strategic DEI pillars:
1) Workforce, 2) Workplace, 3) Business, and 4) Community.
We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities and do so by preventing and removing barriers to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements in accordance with accessibility laws and standards.
Over the course of the next two years, we commit to begin or expand our efforts to:
- Advance our internal self-id process, which we report externally in our annual DEI report.
- Continue internal DEI training for various aspects of our business (e.g., sensitivity training for hiring managers, 101 training opportunities across various divisions or functions).
- Support the global growth of our ERG supporting people with disabilities and its leadership, including executive leadership engagement.
- Review minimum standards of accommodation and accessibility guidelines across our premises to ensure we meet local regulations; and develop minimum standards for countries/territories in which such standards do not exist.
- Continue to develop global and local community and philanthropic relationships which align with Manulife’s culture, goals, and business, while improving the lives and opportunities of people with disabilities.
- Approach this work with holistic engagement and activity across our global business by working with policy holders and stakeholders, DEI leaders, ERG leaders, the Diversity Equity Inclusion Council members, executive sponsors, and invested colleague in the various efforts.
We believe in integration and equal opportunity and demonstrate our commitment on an ongoing basis, both within our facilities and our community at large.
We’re committed to creating environments where every individual feels comfortable being their true and authentic selves. This is a top priority. Increased diversity is not only the right thing to do, it will also contribute to the resilience of our franchise by boosting innovation and giving us an edge over our competition.
