APM’s Valuable 500 Commitment:
APM was established 27 years ago to enable better lives. As Australia’s biggest provider of Disability Employment Services we know that for far too long People with Disability (PwD) have been excluded from the workplace and have experienced social and community isolation as a result.
Every day we work with hundreds of small and medium businesses across Australia and show them what great employees PwD are. Once these businesses see the value of building a diverse workforce, they often come back to us when they have future vacancies.
It’s no secret that a job changes a life, but it doesn’t end there – a job for a Person with Disability helps them become a full and active member of society. The biggest barriers to employing them are outdated perceptions and it’s incumbent on all of us to break these down.
At APM, we are committed to creating workplaces where APMers living with disability, illness or injury can bring their authentic and full self to work every day.
We do this by:
- Delivering an inclusive employment journey – from the way we recruit, through to development opportunities for our people.
- Providing an accessible environment – in our offices, through our systems and our expectations.
- Equipping all of our APMers with the skills and knowledge they need to be inclusive of people with disabilities.
As Australia’s first member of this important initiative, APM is committed to enabling better lives by:
- Working with Australian SMEs to dismantle perceptions and barriers and demonstrate the value of building a diverse workforce for People with Disability.
- Commissioning and sharing independent evidence-based research and thought leadership to engage with the broader Australian community through traditional media, social media and community outreach to dismantle outdated perceptions.
- Investing in our online platform Employable Me to support People with Disability through their employment journey and into sustainable and meaningful work.
- Continuing to be a strong advocate with Government to drive and deliver disability employment programs that make a difference.
