At SSEN, we want to make a positive impact on society and create an inclusive and engaged workforce that truly reflects the communities in which we live and work.
To ensure that we are, we are committing to the following:

Accountability – Director endorsement. We will continue to focus on inclusion and diversity at Board and Director level, including our disability agenda. By September 2021, we will appoint a board-level inclusive champion who is accountable for promoting and reinforcing our employer brand, which welcomes all future talent including those with disability.

Awareness – leading training, support and comms. We will provide disability inclusion training for all Line Managers by the end of March 2023 to help broaden education and build confidence with managers at the heart of our recruitment and employee lifecycle journey.

Accessibility – inclusive recruitment practices. We will ensure people with disabilities are to be assessed on their talents and ability to perform the role and view our company as a desirable place to work by using specialist disability recruitment boards to reach out to the disabled community.

Adaptation – flexible approach. We will invite our colleagues to form a belonging in SSE community group specifically for disability by September 2021 to begin the conversation on how to remove barriers and enable colleagues with a disability to feel confident to discuss and raise disability and any enablement’s required on an ongoing basis.
