English transcript for video:

-Speaker 1: I have a rare condition called somatic symptom disorder, and I work in program development at EY.

-Speaker 2: Since childhood, I have been diagnosed as having an autism spectrum disorder. My main task is to translate sources from English to Japanese.

-Speaker 3: Simply stated, it is difficult for me to adjust my pace in speaking situations. When I get nervous, my symptoms get stronger.

-Speaker 4: Today, it is said that there are approximately one billion people with disabilities in the world. However, they have few opportunities to build careers as professionals, and their chances to be involved in work that leads to skill improvement and career advancement are limited.

-Speaker 5: At EY, our purpose is building a better working world. As part of our DE&I initiative, we promote employment for people with disabilities. In 2022, we have recruited 22 members who have been diagnosed with mental or developmental disabilities and established a dedicated team called Diverse Abilities Center. In today’s world, standards are defined with reference to the average and individuals that don’t achieve the standard are sometimes labeled as having disabilities. We believe that people with so-called “disabilities” have talents that are higher than the “average”. Instead of focusing on the negative aspects of “disabilities”, we see the positive side of them having “diverse abilities”. Through providing an environment that matches the characteristics of each member, we believe that all employees can demonstrate their strength. Offering remote employment, shorter working hours, as well as stationing support staff, we develop an appropriate work environment in which members with developmental disabilities can fully demonstrate their abilities. The tasks assigned to members range from translation to research, data process automation, and design. Their career at EY has just started. At EY, we consider employment for people with diverse abilities as a process of value creation. Along with their career development, EY’s own corporate value will also improve – we are aiming for such a cycle.

-Speaker 6: The members actively make suggestions and proposals. I think you can call it a synergistic effect. I feel that we are creating something good.

-Speaker 7: They are a team with special skills with the capability and the quality of their work is amazing and the speed which they do their work is also top-quality.

-Speaker 8: I learn a lot of new things from their fresh ideas, like a new way of designing, being creative, using new colors and so on. I would like to further integrate with them as their team member.

-Speaker 1: I aim for a society where everyone can work in their own way, regardless of whether they have a disability or not.

-Speaker 2: A world where everyone can work without difficulty and receive appropriate compensation; I believe that is how ideal society would be. I hope my experience at DAC will help to get closer to the direction I believe in.

-Speaker 9: EY provides many opportunities for me to experiment new things. I am blessed to have my team members with various backgrounds.

-Speaker 10: Toward the realisation of a sustainable world where everyone can thrive in their own way, making the Diverse Abilities Center the standard of Japanese society. EY is taking on the challenge of transforming economic and social systems.
