As we move towards SYNC25, we’re shining a light on members of our Valuable Directory – a global community of business-to-business disability inclusion experts and service providers helping our companies and partners to achieve their goals against our Synchronised Collective Actions.

Our latest spotlight is on MyPlus. Their tools, processes, and unique fora will be instrumental in helping our companies both find the best disabled candidates and keep the best disabled talent, all on their journey towards increased workforce representation.

Founded in 2006, MyPlus are a UK-based inclusion consulting firm, and one of the UK’s leading authorities in disability recruitment and development. They began working as consultants on disability-inclusive strategy and process for a number of multinational corporations. In 2009, they launched their Recruiters’ Club. With a unique focus on student employment, the club is a membership forum aimed at building disability confidence in student and professional employment. It also helps employers recruit and develop disabled individuals, specialising in, but not limited to, students.

In 2013, they expanded their offering further and launched their Students’ Club. This is a website which brings together students, universities and businesses, and gives graduate employers a platform to market themselves as employers of choice for students with disability. Building on the strength of their previous offerings, in 2019 they launched a repository of expert resources, aimed at helping university staff support their students with disability as they transition from education into employment.

 MyPlus X Motability Operations:

MyPlus help Motability Operations increase their disabled staff by over 60%.When Motability Operations set out to make themselves an employer of choice for people with disability, they turned to MyPlus for help.

Motability Operations provides mobility solutions to recipients of the UK government’s higher rate mobility allowance and customers choose to exchange their allowance to lease a car, wheelchair accessible vehicle, scooter or powered wheelchair.
Motability had a number of goals they wanted to achieve, including boosting performance through diversity, achieving B Corp certification, and to have the makeup of their workforce reflect the makeup of the UK population by 2026.

MyPlus used their robust methodology to get under the skin of Motability’s recruitment process, conducting in-depth interviews with managers, HR staff, and in-house recruiters. The audit included looking at the company’s attraction strategy, and a full review of processes and communication, including interview questions, standard templates and correspondence, as their corporate website.

After completing their audit, MyPlus made a number of recommendations to Motability. They included using data to identify barriers to recruitment, mainstreaming disability in corporate communications, selling the benefits of transparency around diversity, and providing tailored support for employees with disabilities. The results of the audit and the clear actions that Motability could implement led to an increase of their disabled workforce representation from 9% to 15%, a whopping two-thirds or 66% increase!
